Jane Scarth House in Romsey is a local charity opened in 1995, founded in memory of Romsey resident and mother of two, Jane Scarth, whose family to this day remain closely involved with the work of the charity. In 2017 the charity which provides emotional and practical support to anyone whose life is affected by cancer decided to open a new cancer care centre in Romsey. LandShape was asked to design and implement a small courtyard garden which could be used by visitors to the centre and to provide a visual enhancement to the rooms facing outwards. Helen designed a small space to take chairs and a table together with planters with colourful plants and climbers, some donated by the community. The courtyard has now matured and provides a welcome stop in the sun in the centre of Romsey for anyone who needs a break, befriending or support.
The garden provides a light and private sanctuary for people visiting the centre to have somewhere to sit and relax and also to provide a bright view from the main relaxing and counselling room.
