Stansfeld Park in Headington Quarry, Oxford is a new science education centre and innovation centre owned and operated by The Oxford Trust and Science Oxford. LandShape was involved at the very start of the project with the production of a LVIA and presentations to the the Oxford Design Review Panel to achieve planning permission for the demolition of the old outdoor education centre and installation of a new building with external works using SUDS to feed the existing ponds in the woodlands. Extensive clearance of overgrown self-set woodlands allowed the development of the ponds with a new bespoke boardwalk and dipping platforms to provide outdoor education space for STEM subjects.

Helen Palmer was the Project Landscape Architect for the entire project through to completion. She managed the hard external works including working with engineers to achieve a SUDS solution to the car park where the existing ground would not permit infiltration. Thisproject used a multi-disciplinary approach to achieve a building and landscape which complementary to the woodland in which it sits. She worked with David Harber to provide a location for an interactive Omega entrance sculpture.
